- 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 1 can kidney beans
- 1 can black beans
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth (optional)
- 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat until fully cooked, then drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion begins to soften.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper, letting the spices awaken their flavors.
- Toss in the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, and beef broth. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- For stovetop cooking, let it simmer for around 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. For slow cooker, transfer the mixture and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
- Serve hot, garnished with your favorite toppings.
