- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 can kidney beans, drained
- 1 can black beans, drained
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft and fragrant.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper, cooking for another minute to bring out the spices’ flavors.
- Add in the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, and beef broth.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes.
- Serve hot with optional toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, and chopped green onions.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, swap ground beef for ground turkey or add extra beans. Allow chili to cool completely before storing leftovers.
