Description

Adorable heart-shaped pastries made with flaky puff pastry and a luscious cream cheese filling, topped with fresh strawberries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry (thawed as per package directions)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Red food coloring (optional)
  • 1/2 cup diced strawberries
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp cold water

Instructions

  1. Thaw the puff pastry according to package instructions for about 2 hours at room temperature or overnight in the fridge.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, white sugar, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until smooth and creamy.
  4. Roll out the thawed puff pastry, cut it into heart shapes, and create a smaller heart cut inside each piece for the filling border.
  5. Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the center, topped with diced strawberries.
  6. Whisk the egg with cold water and brush the mixture over the pastry edges.
  7. Bake the danishes for about 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden.

Notes

Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate sauce for extra flair. Pairs well with coffee or tea.
