- 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry (thawed as per package directions)
- 4 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)
- 2 tbsp white sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Red food coloring (optional)
- 1/2 cup diced strawberries
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp cold water
Instructions
- Thaw the puff pastry according to package instructions for about 2 hours at room temperature or overnight in the fridge.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, white sugar, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until smooth and creamy.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry, cut it into heart shapes, and create a smaller heart cut inside each piece for the filling border.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the center, topped with diced strawberries.
- Whisk the egg with cold water and brush the mixture over the pastry edges.
- Bake the danishes for about 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden.
Notes
Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate sauce for extra flair. Pairs well with coffee or tea.
