Description

A comforting slow cooker chili that balances heartiness and flavor, perfect for busy weeknights or relaxing weekends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 2 cans beans (your choice: kidney, black, or pinto)
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes (canned or fresh)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, brown the ground meat over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the meat, cooking until soft.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to your slow cooker.
  4. Add the canned tomatoes, beans, and spices. Stir until well combined.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 hours.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute meat with additional beans or mushrooms. Leftover chili can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days, or frozen for up to three months.
