- 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes (with juices)
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
- 2 cups beef broth (or water)
- 2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Drain excess fat; return the beef to the skillet.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic; cook for 3-4 minutes until the onion is softened.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, and basil; season with salt and pepper.
- Add uncooked elbow macaroni, ensuring it’s covered by the liquid.
- Bring to a simmer and cook uncovered for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta is tender and sauce has thickened.
- If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and let it melt before serving.
Notes
Customize with different proteins or add veggies for extra nutrition. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
