Description

A hearty and soothing bowl of Old Fashioned Chili, perfect for cozy dinners and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beef broth (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef to the pot and cook until it’s browned.
  4. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper, mixing well to coat the beef.
  5. Add the drained kidney beans, black beans, and diced tomatoes (with their juice) to the pot.
  6. If you prefer a thinner chili, pour in the beef broth.
  7. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For extra heat, consider adding chopped jalapeños or a few dashes of hot sauce during cooking. Let the chili sit for a few hours or overnight for even better flavors.
