Description

Enjoy the classic flavors of a burger in a fun, customizable bowl without the fuss of bun assembly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or mixed herbs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 23 medium potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (divided)
  • 500 grams lean beef mince
  • Lettuce (shredded)
  • Cheese (dairy-free or regular)
  • Pickle slices
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (dijon or yellow)
  • 1 teaspoon pickle juice (from the jar of pickles)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Mix the spices: In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried herbs, salt, and black pepper. Reserve half for later.
  2. Prep the potatoes: Wash and cut your potatoes into chips. Pat them dry, then toss with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and half of the spice blend. Ensure they’re well-coated.
  3. Bake the chips: Spread the potatoes on a baking tray and cook them in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 30-40 minutes, or in an air fryer for about 20 minutes, until golden and crispy.
  4. Cook the beef: While the potatoes are baking, heat the remaining olive oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add the beef mince, breaking it apart as it cooks. Once browned, sprinkle in the remaining spices and continue cooking until nicely browned and excess moisture evaporates.
  5. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, and the remaining garlic powder and smoked paprika. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  6. Assemble the bowls: Once your potatoes are out of the oven, divide them among bowls. Layer in shredded lettuce, cooked beef, cheese, and pickles. Finally, drizzle your burger sauce over the top and serve!

Notes

Feel free to substitute with sweet potatoes for a different flavor profile or opt for ground turkey for a leaner option. To keep leftovers fresh, store potatoes in the fridge and reheat in the oven.
