Description

Sweet, savory, and cheesy Hawaiian Roll Cheeseburger Sliders are perfect for gatherings or family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs 80/20 ground beef
  • 1 pack (12) of Hawaiian rolls
  • 11 slices of Colby jack cheese (or American cheese)
  • 1 large sweet onion (diced)
  • 24 dill pickles
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cracked pepper
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1.5 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 teaspoons pickle juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to broil.
  2. Slice the pack of Hawaiian rolls horizontally and arrange them cut side up on a lined baking sheet.
  3. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter and use a basting brush to spread it on the inside of all the rolls. Broil for 3-4 minutes until they’re golden brown.
  4. Reduce oven heat to 350 degrees.
  5. Combine the ground beef with salt and cracked pepper in a large mixing bowl. Press the beef evenly into a 9×13 casserole dish. Bake for 20 minutes.
  6. Sauté the diced onions in a pan over low heat with 1 tablespoon of butter until browned, about 15 minutes.
  7. Drain off any excess juices from the cooked beef.
  8. Layer pickles on the bottom of the toasted buns. Transfer the slab of beef onto the bottom buns, then top with a double layer of cheese and the sautéed onions. Put the top buns back on.
  9. Brush the top buns with the remaining melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Return to the oven for another 15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted beautifully.

Notes

These sliders are great for parties; consider serving with chips or a fresh salad. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
