Description

Tender beef chuck roast simmered in a flavorful blend of soy sauce, garlic, and spices, served in hoagie rolls with optional provolone cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 8 hoagie rolls
  • Sliced provolone cheese (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the beef chuck roast in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic on top of the roast.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaves, salt, and pepper; pour this mixture over the roast.
  4. Cover and cook on low for about 480 minutes (8 hours) or until the meat is fork-tender.
  5. Once cooked, remove the roast from the slow cooker and shred the meat using two forks.
  6. Strain the broth and set it aside to serve as au jus for dipping.
  7. Toast the hoagie rolls, fill them with the shredded beef, and top with provolone cheese if desired. Serve with the au jus for dipping.

Notes

Feel free to adjust quantities based on your preferences or dietary needs. Try different cheeses or add spicy elements for variety.
