Description

Quick, creamy canned chicken salad perfect for sandwiches, salads, or enjoying straight from the bowl.


Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sweet relish or chopped pickles
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1 hard-boiled egg, chopped
  • Optional: 1/4 cup red grapes, halved
  • Optional: 1/4 apple, finely diced
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • Optional: 1/8 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Open and drain the canned chicken thoroughly.
  2. Place the drained chicken into a mixing bowl and shred it with a fork.
  3. Add the mayonnaise to the chicken and stir until evenly coated.
  4. Mix in the chopped celery, sweet relish, and onion powder.
  5. If using optional ingredients, fold them in gently.
  6. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
  7. Stir gently, ensuring the mixture remains creamy.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Freezing is possible, but some ingredients like celery and grapes may lose texture.
