Description

A soul-warming homemade chili recipe that is simple yet packed with rich, savory flavors, perfect for any gathering or cozy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large pot over medium heat and brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped bell pepper, cooking until tender.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, drained kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce heat and cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve hot with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or fresh cilantro.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with lentils or plant-based meat. Feel free to add diced jalapeños for extra heat.
