Description

A hearty and comforting chili made with ground beef, beans, and aromatic spices, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (with juice)
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat a drizzle of oil over medium heat. Add diced onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Add the ground beef to the pot and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  4. Once the beef is browned, drain any excess fat.
  5. Stir in the kidney beans, diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  6. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary before serving.

Notes

Feel free to substitute ground turkey or a plant-based option if preferred. For an extra kick, add diced jalapeños or cayenne pepper.
