Description

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 6 to 8 oval patties.
  3. Brown the patties in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  4. Remove patties and set aside.
  5. Melt butter in the same skillet and sauté sliced onion until softened.
  6. Stir in flour and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Gradually whisk in beef broth, heavy cream, and garlic powder until smooth.
  8. Return patties to the skillet, sinking them into the gravy.
  9. Cover and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove cover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly.
  11. Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, use 80/20 ground beef. Let the dish rest to thicken the gravy before serving.
